This is the fourth year that the players volunteer to complete an annual clean up of Beverly High School through our community service program. Under the direction of Coach Bob Gilligan, our clean up includes the weeding, tree and brush pruning, planting, mulching beds and sweeping the grounds. This year we added the grounds of Briscoe Middle School. The clean up was completed on August 31st. In addition, the players performed yard clean ups for our senior citizens throughout the city of Beverly during the Thanksgiving weekend.

This community service initiative is designed to promote an awareness and importance of community and teamwork by working on projects and assisting people. Our community service program has allowed the student-athletes to “give back” to their community and has promoted pride for their school and community. On September 25th, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (“MIAA”) recognized our team’s efforts with an award for their contribution to community service. Coach Bob Gilligan and this year’s returning senior players attended this award banquet.
