Head Coach Bob Gilligan Coach John O'Neill Coach Andrew O'Neill Coach Justin Shairs    
Coach Gilligan returns for his fifth season as the head coach of BHS hockey. He was selected NEC Coach of the Year for the 2004-5 season. As a defensemen for BHS, he co-captained the Panthers in 1971 and 1972. He was selected to the All-Star team in 1971 and 1972 and was the North Shore League MVP in 1972. He is a graduate of Salem State College, where he played defense from 1974 through 1977. Coach Gilligan is the owner of K&B Landscaping and Tree Service in Beverly, MA and resides in Beverly with wife Kathy and their two children. Coach O'Neill has turned into a true Beverly Panther, for in his second year of assisting Coach Gilligan. John played for the Danvers High, graduating in 1986, then went on to play four years under his brother Bill at Salem State College. After college, he played professionally in Toulouse, France. He then returned home and rejoined his brother as the assistant hockey coach at SSC. Coach O'Neill broke into the high school ranks under the legendary Robert "Bo" Tierney at Bishop Fenwick. He became head coach at Winthrop HS and led the Vikings to an impressive two-year record of 35-7-1, giving Winthrop its first NEC title in 19 years. Coach now resides in Danvers with his lovely wife, Kristen, and their four children, Anna, Brynn, Jack and Tyler. Joining the Panthers in his first year as coach. Andrew is a graduate of the Pingree School, where he was a 4 year member of varsity hockey. He captained both the hockey and baseball teams in his senior year. Was voted team MVP in his senior senior year. Andrew went on to play 4 years at Salem State College had my father as coach of the hockey team. He was Captain in his senior year. During his sophomore year had his father as head coach and his uncle John as assistant. Andrew resides in Salem. Coach Shairs enters his second year with the BHS coaching staff. A 1999 graduate of BHS, he was a three-sport captain, leading the football, hockey, and lacrosse teams. In hockey, Justin was a three-time winner of the Colby Award for his leadership and dedication to the program. He is also the fifth leading scorer in BHS hockey history. Justin attended Saint Anselm College where he was a four-year letter winner and three-time captain of
the lacrosse team. He is also the all-time leading lacrosse scorer at Saint Anselm with 216 career points, and was a two-time MVP. Justin was also the JV lacrosse coach and also volunteers as a coach with Beverly Youth Lacrosse. He resides in Beverly.
